Tutoring Dade City FL
To me, my child was perfect- full of energy and life. His kindergarten teacher loved him. His first grade teacher? Well, that was another story. She constantly complained about him and said things like, “I don’t know what I’m going to do about him!” I was devastated and confused by her reaction. Someone suggested I get my son tested for any learning disabilities he may have. When I received the prognosis that my child was borderline ADHD, I felt sadness and fear for my child and his future.
The doctors left the decision of whether or not to medicate him up to me. I didn't know what to do at first. I knew next to nothing about ADHD and how to help a child with the disorder. I tried everything, even changing his diet. I researched dozens of articles and books on the subject and, as I read more and more about ADHD, my journey of helping my son and other struggling students began.
It would be another 10 years before I began my studies to become a teacher. I came to a point in my life where I had to re-evaluate what my passion was and how to bring it to fruition. My father, a beloved high school teacher, often told me I should be a teacher and I finally decided to go forward with that vision. My college adviser at the time told me Special Education was the right fit after listening to how passionate I became talking about it. I realized educating children like my son was the right path for me. I saw how hard it was for my son and wanted to ease that burden for other children like him.
In 2003, I received my VE (Varying Exceptionalities K-12) degree from St. Leo University and worked with a variety of students ranging from 4th through 10th grade level. I love working one-on-one with students because I see the benefits and positive results of my lessons. I understand a parent’s struggles with a child they love so much but has challenges in school.
Several years ago I left the school system after 10 years to become a full time tutor, which led me to create Yes You Can Tutoring. I believe one-on-one tutoring with a student is a powerful tool for scholastic and life success. I designed the studies in a way that helps kids have fun while learning, whether they are gearing up for the SAT, ACT, or PERT testing, to general math and reading tutoring. I offer multiple different tutoring services in order to help your child with all of their educational needs. I am a certified SAT tutor, ACT tutor, and PERT tutor as well as math and reading tutor in Dade City Florida, as well as multiple cities in the area. A tutor not only eases school tension between a child and parent, it also helps a child feel good about who they are!
We are all children of God and have a purpose here on earth.
