Sarah has tutored three of my boys. She is more than just a tutor, as she digs deep into each student's background to discover where the math 'gaps' are. A child may be absent the day a lesson is taught at school relating to a simple mathematical procedure, or has missed a procedure while moving from one school district to another which can create these 'gaps' as curriculum varies city-to-city and state-to-state. Classroom distractions or a teacher who does a poor job of disseminating knowledge can also be the cause. If your child has difficulty with math, it is almost certain they have a 'gap' in their comprehension of procedures as math is all chronological steps and stages, and if a single step or stage is missing, it is a matter of discovering the missing area and completing the progression. Sarah has refined her skills to such a level that she pinpoints the 'missing link or links' and focuses on filling the 'gaps'. It is simply amazing what happens to a student when that 'gap' is discovered, corrected, and perfected. Math comprehension increases dramatically and the student gains knowledge, self esteem, confidence, and a legitimate feeling of self worth. Instead of feelings of inadequacy, your child's confidence will allow them to move on to additional mathematics. There is no way to repay Sarah for the positive change we saw in our children. Her rates are so very low for the services she renders. Years later my boys still talk of Sarah with such glowing memories. They truly love Sarah for the person she is and the help she gave them.

My daughter and I had been searching for a tutor to help her with her studies. When we found Sarah Christiansen, we found an angel! From our very first conversation with Sarah, I knew she was going to be exactly what my daughter needed. Sarah took the time to get to know my daughter and her specific needs. She then took the time to develop an array of strategies that would not only help my daughter to accomplish the lessons, but she helped to build her confidence to bypass her severe test anxiety and to be able to enjoy the thrill of excellent grades. This was done with patience, understanding, truly listening to her concerns and extreme accuracy. If ever a strategy was not working, she always had another to replace it until it all made sense. I would recommend Sarah Christiansen to anyone in need of a tutor! -Jennifer Edwards (Florida)
My son Devin was tutored in Math by Sarah Christiansen for almost 2 years when he was in 4th and 5th grade, and he was definitely a challenging student for her. He suffers from ADHD and has always struggled in school.
She was always very patient and persistent with him, and found creative ways to help him learn. Sarah is a great teacher and she truly loves working with children.
I am happy to say that my son was awarded Honor Roll on his most recent report card, so although it took some time, Sarah’s hard work paid off.
Thank you, Sarah, for your part in my son’s success! -Joyce (Florida)
Our son has renewed exuberance for math. He looks forward to the time he spends with his tutor. We've never seen him so prepared and in control of his own performance. This really cool way to learn (Skyping) is already showing results after just three short weeks. He got his first "B" in math this school year! Thank you"Yes You Can Tutoring" for making math moments of magic! -Marcy Heistand (Puerto Rico)
I was searching for a math tutor for my daughter and remembered her fifth grade teacher Sarah Christiansen. I remember the conversation I had with her so clearly, she could not believe her "A" student Larissa was having problems with math. "Something is wrong!" Mrs. Christiansen said, "Just give me a call and I can tutor Larissa through Skype or Face time." In just one week of tutoring there was a significant change in Larissa’s math work. Her grades have improved. She got an "A" on the first test that she took while she was being tutored. Sarah is an Angel. She can work with any child and make a difference in their performance. She caters to any child. Sarah is able to find ways to breaking things down to where they are able to understand and solve the problems. She is a patient and caring individual who loves to work with children. I recommend Sarah Christiansen to anyone in need of a tutor! -Leandra Sweeney (St. Croix, USVI)
Our daughter had Mrs. Christiansen (Sarah) for 5th grade math and I'll never forget her words to me at the beginning of the year: "I want kids to leave here liking math and feeling confident in themselves with math." She scored on both counts with my daughter, who was making very good grades. Sixth grade was a different teacher with an entirely different methodology; My daughters attitude, confidence and grades plummeted.
At the end of summer, when we learned Sarah, who had since moved, started a tutoring business, we signed up my daughter with some trepidation about the on-line aspect, but the experience has been great. Sarah brings humor to each session, which really helps our daughter, and she has endless patience. My daughter has dyxlexia and dyscalculia, making short term memory a challenge; Sarah never makes her feel bad about it -- instead she focuses on the things she does right and cheers those accomplishments. At 13, she will moan and groan about tutoring, but then she is totally into it with Sarah; we can hear the enthusiasm in her voice when they work together that she is getting it. The payoff is a solid B at mid-term!!
I've also found it very convenient to have my daughter tutored on-line since I can be home doing things while she has a lesson. All-in-all I highly recommend Sarah for any child's tutoring needs. -Robin (St. Croix, USVI)
My daughter was struggling in Algebra II. We met with Sarah and she spent a great deal of time getting to know my daughter and ask her questions. Sarah then picked the best tutor to work with her based on the information she gained in the first initial meeting. My daughter worked with Ryan all year, and went from a 78 in the first quarter to a final average of 87. It wasn't just the grade that improved, it was the overall understanding of the subject. I would recommend Yes You Can tutoring without any reservations. Kristin Beard

My son was just "OK" at math, he often got stuck on math problems and needed extra help. So Skyping right from our home made so much sense for him! As a result, his math grade went up and so did his confidence! Yeah!!! San Antonio, Florida
